Canapes

For work on Friday, we had to do Canapes for a VIP function, there were five total:
Asparagus with Prosciutto
Chicken with Mango and Sweet Thai Chili Sauce Filo Cup
Mini Jacket Potatoes
Smoked Salmon Tartlett
Paneer Tika Kebabs

Chef Rajiv, who is the night chef at the Hilton. He's soo nice, Chef Serkan had already left for the day so I couldn't get a picture of him.
As you probably can guess, there is a large Indian influence so lots of Indian dishes are made.
 
 
 
  

So these are the produce refrigerators and prepped food refrigerators. Currently, since I am working the sandwich station, I am making the wraps, pitas and sandwichs that you can see in the pictures. In a few weeks the Chef said I will be moving to the Larder station upstairs at the Brasserie restaurant. He offered me a permanent job there too! I told him I'm only on a temporary visa though, but that's a good sign!  
 
 
  

Hilton Paddington

This is where I work. The sandwich station and larder station are separated. The room with the trash can is where I currently work. There are large refrigerators wihch you can see, 4 in total, plus a dry storage. The group is alright to work with so far, I just wish that they would have actually trained me, now after 4 or 5 days of working the station by myself, they are making me train someone! For goodness sakes.  
 
 
  

The guy in the orange shirt is my friend Greg. He works at the Connaught Hotel at a restaurant called "Angela's" which is a 3 Michelin start restaurant by Gordon Ramsay's protegee Angela Hartnett. He works so many double shifts a week it's crazy poor guy
 
 
 
  

On our trip to Westminster we went through this area where there were so many street performers that were trying to make money off of wearing costumes and posing for hours on end. I have to say though, some of the costumes were quite nice, ther was one of the "invisible man" just becuase this guy had rigged something on top of his head to look as is he had no head. Pretty cool haha. Anyway it was a great day for sightseeing and I bought 3 books at this discount book sale. Hopefully I'll actually get to read them everyday on the tube when I go to work. The London Underground is good and bad. It has so many delays all the time, even though it's way easier to understand then the NY subway system. There are no "transfers available to the N R B Z 1 4 5 6 T M J etc etc etc..." haha. Anyway so my friends and I just moved to our new place in South Ealing which is quite a quiet neighborhood but it's nicfe and residential which is what I like. It's close to the tube station so that's always nice. Too bad for my friend Bart though he has the longest commute, whereas for me I have a special train that I can take to Paddington where my work is and it only takes about 20 minutes to get towork, which is GREAT in the mornings! :) Anyway, so work is going alright, the girl who was in the station that I am in now quit on monday unexpectedly so it's kinda hard becuase they just hired a new person and they expect me to train him. that does not man sense at all seeing as though I have only been here for 4 freaking days man! Westminster Abbey and Big Ben

 
 
 
 
Ok so we went to Westminster Abbey, I went to the Evensong service the next day, absolutely amazing those boy's voices are like angels! We went to along the Thames River where the Thames Festival was and they had all these street performers and stuff, where the London Eye is located. Anyway I tried to touch up these photos, I hope they look alright. There is a picture of a yellow bus and that's the London Duck Tours which are tours for kids, and the coolest part about that buss is that it goes straight into the water and turns into a boat! It was the most amazing thing when I saw it haha. 

Garde Manger

This is the last class I had at school before extern, it was called Garde Manger, which is basically appetizers, hors d'ouvres, terrines, stuff like that. I had it with Chef Hubert Martini, he's Alsatian, French German, always says "Shiiza" hahaa. Anyway, it was alright.

Hey so I'm in London, sorry I haven't updated this in so long but so many things going on you know? So here are some photos of the sightseeing I've done so far, but I've only been here for about 3 weeks, still getting used to things, dunno if I like work so much.... ohwlell

SO the pictures, Yes that is Gordon Ramsay's Restaurant, his first one in Mayfair. There's one of the Tower of London Bridge, some business Londoners out for lunch at St. Paul's Cathedral, a really cool wooden chair where a guy is sleeping along the River Thames
